Take A Load Off

Heading up the coast we stopped in Crystal River.  An interesting little tourist trap of a town. There was a laundromat on the main drag we took advantage of. We were starting to develop a bit of a phunk. We strolled the dogs around, still getting used to picking up after them. Being on farms our whole lives you would think it would be old news. Nope, it amuses the heck out of us carrying around our bags of doo in search of a dumpster. Rasta always seems to relieve himself at the worst times. He particularly likes parking lots and sidewalks, and instead of stopping to make it easy on us he will continue walking, stretching it out. We are thinking he should carry a backpack and a folding shovel.  Nice, another 2 bagger. Rock, paper, scissors!  Dang it, not again!

After almuerzo y te, lunch and tea…need to get working on that!…we headed north in search of a campsite. Let me tell you, the state parks in Florida, during a holiday week, buena suerte, good luck. You better have plans and not ideas. We like to run off the seat of our pants and are used to pulling into campgrounds whenever. But not in Florida, you better have reservations or be in before 5 or the gate is locked. And don’t forget your wallet $$$ So we ended up in a bit of a pickle that night, laundry drying, us road delirious and in need of a shower.
We ended up in a Walmart parking lot, happy to get some shut eye. We met some new friends in the morning. Klaus and Sonja, a couple from Germany, overlanding the Americas for the next two years in a sweet, tricked out 4×4 Mercedes sprinter. They have been on the road since August and have hit the east coast, Canada to Florida. They plan on heading into mainland Mexico soon.
While invading a Starbucks patio, we contemplate our next move. Off to Grayton Beach for some coastal camping and showers….
