T Is For Texas

Rain moved in during our second day at Grayton Beach. We enjoyed our stay but were ready to head westward, away from the red tide.

Just outside of Biloxi Mississippi, we found an authentic crawfish house. If you end up in the area, go to Tarantos. A little off the path, but legit.  Golden fried deliciousness, in every buttery bite!!

We boogied through Louisiana and east Texas.

We settled for the night in the town square of Fayetteville, TX. The town seemed eerily quiet, except for the clock tower.  With a population of around 200, it feels like a step back in time. They have restrooms open all night in the square, and allow overnighting, so we took advantage.  Public land is hard to come by in Texas!

We were awakened by echoes of howling in the wee hours of morning, breaking the eery silence. Jodi was convinced we rolled into the trap of a werewolf town!  But no, it was just a country party, finally settling with a diesel powered showdown, burn outs in all directions. Welcome to Texas!
